Many can HIT, but few are great HITTERS
Coach Prater will be hosting an exclusive hitting program limited to only 8 players per session for high school athletes  who desire to move beyond just knowing "HOW TO  hit"..... to becoming a better HITTER. Coach Prater's experience with elite high school, collegiate, and professional hitters has helped develop a SWINGTHERAPY program that is guranteed to have a positive impact on your ball players approach to hitting and will open your ball player's mind to the technical, tactical, and visual applications to hitting......bottom line.....it takes more than a pretty swing to be a successful at the plate.
Workshop schedule is as follows:

Session  #1:
Technical application of hitting - There's more to hitting than "HOW TO": Each ball player MUST have rock solid fundamentals. This session will examine what it really means to "stay back", should  a hitter really "squish the bug". Swing down on the ball? What does it mean to "fly open"? How do I "stay on the ball"? How can I hit the ball harder / farther without more muscle? Etc.......You will walk out the door with a crystal clear understanding of what solid mechanics at the plate look like. Drills will focus on helping you evaluate your swing mechanics.

Session  #2:
Tactical applications to hitting - "What to do when": It's not enough to just have a good swing. Many can hit, but few are GREAT hitters. During your at bat the count changes with each pitch. You are either ahead in the count, behind in the count, or even in the count. Great hitters have a ROCK SOLID approach for each at bat. They have a plan. During this session we will examine many of the ways a hitter can develop a solid approach. Drills will focus on helping you apply a good approach.
When does your at bat start? Why is it important to pay attention when your teammates are at the plate. What can I learn from watching a pitcher warm up? Look fastball; react curve.....fact or fiction?
"Look" for a certain pitch vs "guess". Is it okay to "look" curve ball? Split the plate in half and look in a certain zone. Why do I hit GREAT in the cage, but I am a totally different hitter in the games. How do I keep a hitting journal?

Session #3:
Visual application to hitting: Each ball player will be video taped for computer analysis and review. We will analyze your swing with some of the top major league hitters. Your swing will be loaded on computer and synchronized with a major league hitter using split screen technology and you will be able to see  WHAT REALLY HAPPENS........or doesn't happen during your swing. Sample

Session #4:
Review session: Session will begin with a written exercise requiring you to imagine yourself as the pitcher on the mound staring in at YOU as the batter.........how would you get yourself out? How do college and pro scouts critique your swing? What types of things do they look for? We will transition into an application time where you will participate in drills in the cage challenging you  to "have a plan" at the plate and execute that plan.
